Question A box of tricks for my TV

Hi folks

So I want to play lots of file formats on my TV, now I could connect my PC to TV via HDMI but it is a bit of a pain and so I want to opt for a sort of media player, I have looked at blue ray players with USB but the prices are very expensive, and my TV doesn't do casting from my PC unless I use Kodi or Plex for sharing and those apps are a bit flaky, has anyone got any ideas what would work as I am scratching my head here.

I switched from Roku to one of these and it's been pretty decent. I use Plex primarily and the box has been handling most anything I throw at it from Plex.

No not a Roku, something like a BluRay player that can take USB and also have RCA on the back.
