A bit of advice needed on shady ebay software...

I could use some advice on this one.

I purchased Microsoft Office 2003 Pro - supposedly OEM as indicated by the ad, but recieved an NFR version which is "Not for Retail or OEM Distribution." The software does include a product key, but the part number signifies that this is one of those educational mass liscened copies for student use. In fact the item was shipped from a college town.

I emailed the guy and told him if I wanted illegal software I would not have paid $200.00 for it. I asked him what he was going to do about it. His reply: "i will give you your money back and you will send me the software back!!!!!!!!!!!!!"

I'm really unsure what to do in this situation. I have no assurance that a guy that sells me illegal software will do as he says. I also would rather not jepordize my stellar feedback rating. Am I just screwed in this situation or what?

Do that, in that order.

Then when it's all done report his ass to Microsoft and the college in his town, just to teach his ass a lesson.

Definitely report him to MS.

Blatant, for profit piracy is not cool.

Who are you really?

Just a longtime anandtech reader and lurker, but first time poster. I decided to post here because the concept of NFR software is understood, unlike the 23 dopes that gave this guy positive feedback for sending them the same thing I received.

Really, I'm harmless... lol

Actually acording to my assigned avatar, I guess I'm Stevie Wonder
