You're kidding, right? The changes were major. Huge in fact. The worst change was the complete destruction of the motivation for Han Solo's character. The 2nd worst was transforming the series from the story of a righteous underdog rebellion over evil into the life story of Annakin Skywalker aka Darth Vader. The 3rd worst is changing the Force from a religion that anyone with enough faith could become powerful in into what is basically a genetic anamoly reserved for a very few.Originally posted by: maddogchen
how did he destroy the movies he reedited? it seemed very minor.
The Star Wars series rides on the outstanding success of the original movie. As has already been proven, Lucas could turn out complete garbage under the franchise and it would be a hit. This is because the original movie was revolutionary and groundbreaking in almost every respect. It literally changed the way all movies re made.Originally posted by: spacejamz
am the only person who thinks people should stop their whining about this???
Obviously he is doing something right since Stars Wars has been a house hold term for awhile now...
More importantly, they are his movies to do whatever he pleases with...once you make 6 megamillion dollar movies, you can decide if you want to re-release them or add anything to them (or not)...
And really, how much did the special editions really change the movie? Darth Vader is still Luke's dad and he dies in the end...(may need a spoiler alert for this one😀)
and to conclude: It's just a frickin' movie...get over it....
\end of rant...now putting on flamesuit...

I'll watch it. But I'll be watching it for the same reason I clicked on that thread about the chimps biting a guys balls off. Not because I want to, but because an evil force compels me too.

I havn't just been cheated out of 3 star wars movies, I've been cheated out of all 6. I refuse to watch the new DVD version because it's been bastardized, and 25 year old VHS tapes don't work well.
I don't see how Han's character was destroyed. If you look at the series as a whole, meaning the prequels, the first 3 originals and the 3 books that take place after the original movies I think the context of all the characters is spot on.You're kidding, right? Which Empire was, without question, the absolute best of all the Star Wars movies. And why? Because it was directed by someone else.Originally posted by: EvilYoda
I think Stark meant episode V, part 2 of the original trilogy. You should've realized this since it actually was directed by someone else, Irvin Kershner. IMDBOriginally posted by: Stark
i don't think he directed 2
Man this Star Wars stuff is bringing out the geek in me 😛
