Hi!

I'm in a big dilemma. I'm planning to buy a new rig (3500+ Venice, 1 GB DDR 400, ASUS A8N-E) and I was wondering what video card to take:

ATI Radeon X800 XL Built By ATI
or
BFG GeForce 6800 GT OC

I just wanna play games like CS: Source, Battlefield 2, FIA GTR Racing, Moto GP 3, FEAR, AOE 3, STALKER, Far Cry... you see the pattern now? --- in resolution, if possible, higher than 1024*768, and I wanna have a good framerate (60 and more). So which one of these cards will let me achieve my "goals"?

What about PS 3.0? Are they really important?

PS: I'm not a big fan of FSAA and AA, cause I'm not used to it (TNT 2). But I'd rather play in 1600*1200 than play in 1152*864 and put FSAA and AA @ max.

personally, i picked the x800xl cuz i got a good price on it. IF price was equal, i would take the 6800 GT

Like Corp. Thug said. 6800 GT OC IF they are similar prices. Other wise the XL should be fine. They pretty much have the same performance anyways.

What's the verdict?
You can get a 6800GT from FS/FT for like $250. I did.

even if price was same, i'd pick x800xl because its faster in most games, if only slightly.

I have a deal on a BFG GeForce 6800 GT OC. It's $20 USD more than the X800 XL. Is it worth it?

Is the 7800 GT representing a good deal?

If that 7800 GT isnt a typo the 7800 GT owns.

A typo?

The 7800 GT is about $150 US more expensive than the 6800 GT. Maybe I'm dreaming. I maybe won't have the budget for it and I don't wanna wait a month or two.

If I get the BFG one (already partially overclocked), is it good to get another one later? Will this video card be outdated soon? And is the BFG overclockable (more than it is as of now (425/1050))?

dont spend over 250 on a x800xl or a 6800GT

if you want to spend 300, spend 350 or 375 on a 7800gt....300 on a 6800GT is a waste of money IMHO

Actually, that's true. I think I'll see.. but the 7800 thing is growing on me..., and maybe the prices will drop when the R520 will be out on the streets.

Cheesetogo, thank you for your help.

You can geta 7800gt for like $310, or so i heard. You can get a 6800gt for like $260...I'd actually go for a 7800gt if possible, but if not, i'd take the 6800gt OC over the x800xl because its about equal, but has SM3...which might not be important to you. so it's pretty much between Sm3 or not, which i dont see why you wouldnt get it considering they're very close in price and performance.

X800XL should be your best deal. Good price and cheaper than the 6800GT (as of right now). Just don't expect to run a game like BF2 at entirely all HIGH settings.
