Question A Big Boi PC That is Quiet + Pretty

Hey everybody,

Building a new PC soon. Need some advice on upgrades, specifically for quiet optimization.

Current Setup: 4090with a 14700k and it's in a pretty case (NZXT H9 FLOW TG MT ATX WHITE....pic is included) with all white pieces. This full glass panel design seems popular these days and I love it, but I do also want to reduce noise while recording videos (ShureSM7B seems to pick up the fans sometimes).

Next Setup: Upgrade to a 5090 and a 9850X3D system. I'm going for absolutely max performance (unless it's like some useless 0.02% upgrade ofc) and aesthetics, but also low noise.

From what I've read, two things will help the noise issue:

1. Full tower with big 140mm fans
2. Not a FULL glass panel design.
3. Custom loop.

Do I need to go with #2 and sacrifice aesthetics for noise or is there some best of both worlds situation?

I've looked into the Maingear Apex Force also.

Because it's all custom loops and whatnot it seems to bypass the #2 issue of glass panel and still be super quiet...Probably will be the quietest thing I can get and also gorgeous (I want a full white design but this is an exception lol), but I think I can save significant cash by using my own parts and maybe don't need #3.

Here's my initial thoughts:

CPU: Ryzen 7 9850X3D
Cooler: Arctic Liquid Freezer III Pro A-RGB
MOBO: Gigabyte X870E
Storage: Crucial T705 W/Heatsink Limited Edition
GPU: Gigabyte Aorus Stealth Ice 5090
Case: BeQuiet Dark Base Pro 901 ATX Full Case
Power Supply: Be Quiet! Dark Power Pro 13 1300W 80+ Titanium
Fans: Be quiet! Light wings LX 56 CFM 140MM

The BeQuiet case seems like a nice balance between glass panel but not full and it's designed for quiet.

BUTT, a case like the Lian Li Dynamic EVO XL is gorgeous, full tower...but seems to lose on quiet.

Oh and one last question: I currently have Trident Z5 RGB 64GB in my system and it's white themed and 64gb and seems to still be good for the new rig. I see no reason to replace it? It's "optimized" for Intel, but should work fine for my new rig, right?

Any recommendations that I'm not seeing or optimizations?

That's really a sweet looking system, in the best tradition of 25 years among the Anandtech modders, enthusiasts and tech-veterans. Very impressive.

Thank you 🙂 I appreciate it. I hope to keep the same all-white aesthetics while also optimizing quietness with the new rig. Do you think that current list of parts will work well? Honestly it's just between the Lian Li case (max aesthetics, lower quiet) and the Be Quiet (max quiet, mid aesthetics).

I think the full tower will help with noise inherently, as will the version of 5090 (or is it meaningless to buy the "upgraded" OC stealth version?).

I can't advise about AMD systems. I've been a member here since 2005. For at least a couple years, I researched and read about constructing custom water systems-- some with "evaporative cooling" features. But I could never get myself -- in the end -- to try even so much as a Kraken or Arctic AiO.

I just stayed with the Intel processors and chipsets. I didn't want to complicate my life. So that was my "strategy" -- not exactly a bold and adventuresome foray into the realm of all the possibilities.

So my system is pretty silent when it's idling.

Most of the fans (case, gpu and psu) stop entirely and the radiator fans and cpu pump run at 10%. There are no other bits with moving parts.

That's with a 5800x3d and a 6950xt in a big arse Asus pro art case with a 420mmAIO, so your rig will run a lot hotter than mine.
I'm not sure you could make the case in the op that quiet but you could make it quiet.

So... anyone stop to ask why? Your current PC is still in the 99th percentile of all rigs, no?
Sure, you've stated you want max performance and aesthetics, but I missed any mention of current software that is pushing the limits of the current system?

Only reason I ask is because the words "can save significant cash" do appear in the OP. 😉

It will certainly work. And high probability is will work at rated speed and timings. Even If it does not play well at the rated 6400, you can simply use 6000MT/s. X3D is not memory sensitive like most CPUs are, and performance difference is basically non-existent between such similar memory speeds.

The rest I can't help with. There are currently so many cases and designs, I cannot keep up. I don't do streaming or video content, so I presume you are unable use RTX Voice to eliminate background fan noise.

Interesting...

I want more frames in 4k and I want to use DLSS5 when it comes out 🙂 My 4090 won't be able to use it.

You actually just came in so clutch with the RTX voice...didn't even know that existed. I just downloaded Nvidia Broadcast and will see how it works!! If it can take out even really heavy fan background, then my sound issue is pretty much resolved and I can just focus on aesthetics/performance!!!!

And ty on the memory. Saved me $1000 🙂
