It'd be great if heatware could be somehow integrated into the Anandtech forum software. Here's what I had in mind:
Old Way:
Say I was selling 3 socket 7 motherboards, for 35 dollars a piece shipped. JoeNewbie posts in my thead inquiring about the two intel boards. After haggling over the price a bit, we decide on $90 + shipping for both (I'm such a meanie for taking advantage of newbie 😉). JoeNewbie pays me via PayPal, and I ship the motherboards out same day.
After searching for heatware in my favorites folder and loading it up, I click the "Add" option and fill in numerous spaces... for the gizzilionth time. First I add my user name, email and whether I'm the buyer or seller in this perticlular trade. Next, I must find the buyer in the extremely long pull down menu, or in this case add a new user profile.. "JoeNewbie". Now, the date of deal must be selected, the transaction description and comments, as well as the rating I'd like to give "JoeNewbie".
Total Time Spent: 5-8 minutes
New Way:
The next day, AnandGuru offers me $30 for the remaining motherboard, and I accept.
As soon as the money order is received, I click over to my old thread, punch the "Post A Heatware Evaluation" link, and find a much improved heatware to my delight! 😀 My user name, email, position* and date of deal are already selected. Besides the traditional trader pop-down-menu, a shorter menu appears containing only the names of those people who responded to my FS thread. I now notice that the sale description section is filled in with my thread title. It can be easily edited to look correct (ie default sale description would be the same as my thread name, "WTB: Network Card" and could be changed easily to "Bought a Network Card"😉. All that's left to do is type my praise in the comments box, and click the send button!
Total Time Spent : 2-3 minutes
*Your position, whether buyer seller or cross-trader, could be selected via a small optional pull down menu available when first posting in the for sale forums.
Would something like this be hard to implement? An integrated heatware system, would reduce the time and effort needed to post an evaluation. It would certainly encourage both newbies and Elite members to post heatware evaluations for every sale, no matter how busy they might be.
Perhaps it could be done in a custom designed version of fusetalk? What do you guys think? 🙂 Post you comments below \/ \/ \/
