Damn this place, now I have the PC BUILDING BUG, so much so I am trying to sell a watch so I can build another PC and give my latest build to my son (he's a good kid).

So this is my current build:

2500K (not OC'd)...
P67 ASUS Sabertooth...
GTX 570 OC (from factory, not by me)...
8GB of Gskill ram...
XFX 650w PSU...
Samsung F3 1TB HDD...
OCZ 120GB SSD...
Asus Optical Drive...

If I wanted to build an even stronger gaming rig, what changes would you suggest (stick with Nvidia GPU)...?

Go with a GTX 580... but you'd probably be better off not hearing that, hehe... stay away from the forums, they'll do that to you.

about all you can do is build the same thing, two ssd's in raid, gtx 595, and 850 watt psu.

When is the 595 due?

I dont think it has even been officially announced, just rumour like normal, but it is rumoured to come out in the next two months, ALSO the GPU that ISNT rumoured is the AMD 6990 which should be out in the next month or so. These are both single card dual GPU cards. And will require a hefty PSU.

You've got the bug. My advice to you is to step back, wait a few months, and see how you feel then.

Unless you think your son NEEDS a new computer, but if he does i would not build him one with so much power, i would go with your basic build but use a 60gb SSD, 500GB HDD, gtx 560 Ti, 500 watt PSU, and 4 Gb of RAM. Then if you still have the bug when socket 2011 comes out you can sell some watches and REALLY upgrade (we are talking $3,000 here ;) )

Seriously...you already have the best available processor for gaming, more than enough RAM to handle any game, and a nearly top-of-the-line video card...what more could you want?

Sure, you COULD sell the 570 and get a 580...or wait for the next generation to hit the market...(rumors say the 590 MAY be out this month) or you could buy another 570 and run them SLi.

Of course...you could always get one of these:

er wait a minute...

+
120Hz LCD
>500Hz polling rated mouse

...and your exact machine will feel faster than your sons if you give it to him.

I'd just build your son a slightly cheaper system and leave yours alone:

1 TB performance drive, no SSD, maybe a second 1 TB for backups instead
GTX 560 instead of 570
Asus $150-190 version of their P67

I would include a small boot SSD so he doesn't complain about how his computer doesn't boot as fast as his dad's. For the rest i pretty much agree. You could even get the UD3 from gigabyte (or comparable from ASUS/MSI/ECS/EVGA/etc.)

I'm not really into 3D movies either so I probably would not like it for gaming...hmmmm.

Don't know...I can't find it for sale anywhere...but Gainward doesn't sell in the USA. (I checked some of the UK sites...not available there yet either...the 1.5 Gb version is about 350 BP...$525)

But it's SEXY as hell...
