Today is the 7th day of me trying to get IDE2 to recognize ANYTHING. Ive plugged HD and CDROMS up the gazoo. Have done all the different junper settings and cable selections possible. Played with BIOS for hours. I know the BIOS more than I know my own anatomy, but lets not go there.
Would a faulty or under powered power supply cause these many problems?
running :
Athlon xp1900
Biostar M7VKD
512 ram
WD 45gig
Creative 12x dvd
Sony cdrw.

sounds like a bad onboard ide controller

what would a bad ps have to do with it?

You left off the most important info - what O/S?

In XP the channels can/should be enabled in disk manager individually
you could do a search in registry for "bad" and delete anything associated with HDD

I had a similar problem awhile ago... I was getting random reboots as well as nothing found on the IDE2 controller, among other problems. Replaced the power supply and all of my problems went away.

the one thing I always love about AT is that no matter what you say, there will always someone to come
on happy to say just the opposite.
