Hello guys,

I have been around and with computers since i was like 10. I took computer classes back in high school and college, but so far have not gotten a certification. I am 20, sophomore in college. I am about to go ahead and take the A+ certification and network+ next.

Where is the cheapest place i can buy the books for both of these certifications ? I really want to start and get this stuff done !

Thanks !

I have both.

I didn't buy any books.

We had a giant printer/scanner/copier and a few copies at school. Sliced the spine and fed it into the copier. :X

Sorry. 🙁

A+ Passport is a good one for that, can't remember the name of the Network+ book.

I would expect there to be free online sources...

A+ is a joke with how easy it is since they revised it.

Network+ requires a bit more work.

I still doubt I could do it. 😛 I don't know how many pins are on all the connectors out there... 😛

They eliminated all the older ones, if I recall correctly. I think you just need to know the SCSI stuff.

I memorized every IRQ damn it!

Yeah, A+ is easy, i took some practice quiz and got a 80....net+ not so good lol.

i want to buy the books so i can actually have them, and study from them.

I'd tell you if I could remember what I used on Net+...sorry!

Good luck though. 🙂

So, When taking the initial A+ exam, there are two parts and not one right ?

I have contacted compTIA about the testing center in Charlotte,NC. I can not find the location through google for some reason. Anyways, Im going to
try to locate the correct book, and order it ASAP.

Network+ is still pretty worthless unless you plan on using it to satisify a requirement for a useful cert. I've got my Network+ cert and Security+ cert and I'd say they're both pretty worthless.

I thought the Net+ was actually a pretty challenging test (this was back in 2000). A+ I didn't bother with. Net+ and MCSE helped me 9 years ago, but I have gotten any certs since then.

If you have been around computers and actually know how to build, install, etc, both of those tests are cake.

A+ and Net+ were the easiest certs I've taken. If you ever take a cisco test, you will change your mind about net+ being hard.
