I don't even know what is this sauce you're talking about. I guess it's tomato and hot peppers? Doesn't sound caloric.

Just what type of salsa are we talking about here?

I have two jars from my fridge.

The La Victoria has 5 calories per 30 grams. With 454 grams per pound that would be 76 calories per pound.

My jar of Goya brand salsa has 10 calories per 30 grams or 151 calories per pound.

Is this some sort of bacon enriched salsa?

Spikes Santa Fe is 10 for 31 grams. Salsa is very low cal and the more natural it is the less calories it's going to have. The only way to get to nearly 400 calories per pound is with a lot of corn syrup added.

This is pretty much what I was wondering. All the salsa I've seen is 10 calories per serving, not 25. Unless it's salsa con queso, but that has more than 25 calories per serving (closer to 50). What mystical salsa is this?

Indeed. Apparently throwing mango, sugar and corn starch into a traditionally low-calorie food makes it slightly less low-calorie. Who knew?

Sorry...it's salsa is not? Was that not your request? Was that not the subject of the post?

Salsas take many forms, and some are high calories because of sugar; some because of fat.

1. steal a slow cooker
2. dump in some chicken breasts
3. add a bunch of salsa
4. add taco seasoning mix
5. add chopped onion, green pepper, corn, lime (optional)
6. turn it on high for 3-4 hrs/low for 6 - 8 hours
7. eat

That sounds like an awesome recipe for camp, thank!

That's not really a lot considering we're talking about three pounds of salsa...

OP doesn't understand portion sizes. At all. Fail.

1 container = 1 serving in my book.

just surprised mango salsa is 1100 calories. that's all...

btw- only ate salad for dinner.

hm..
1/2 lb of smoked turkey for lunch
banana for breakfast

cal count for the day = less than 2k

and by contrast, 3 pounds of fat = 10,500 calories. Eat all the damn salsa you can hold!
