This guy was set to replace nancy pelosi as the next speaker, but he ran to every deep pocket he could get his money grubbing hands just to hold on to power.

Part of her platform is abolishing ICE. That's enough to win Queens right there!

In all seriousness though, turnout was super low in that district. You can raise all the money you want but still gotta get folks to the polls. Crowley never faced a real primary his entire career.

It seems like the national Dems are avoiding any big confrontations and just letting Trump beat himself. That's also how they lost 2016.

I've been following her campaign on Twitter for months. I CANNOT BELIEVE SHE WON!!! WOOO HOOO!! She was supposed to get SMOKED.

Her platform is universal health care, jobs guarantee, and abolish ICE. Also a strong critic of Israel. This is the best night in politics since the UK election.

She can't do those things herself. What she can do... what she just did was win a primary by running on a platform of fighting for those things. Others can see her win and be inspired to fight their own fights. Hell yeah, fuck the donors, the people can take control back. Today its health care and jobs guarantees. Tomorrow, it's guillotines!

I look at that two ways. One, either she isn't fully aware of what's coming with automation. Or two... she knows the public cannot comprehend it yet, so we cannot campaign on Basic Income... yet. The fact that she wants to push away the Income Inequality that has plagued our people is a positive sign. It means she has the right track, if not the right idea.

People thinking how the economy is supposed to work for us, and not Wall Street, they're the ones I want in Congress.

There are social things I strongly disagree with, but economics has become the number one issue.

Good. Fuck this democrat establishment and the heir apparent to Pelosi... THIS kind of candidate needs to be the face of the democrat party going forward... I swear to God as my witness if they keep the status quo in the party I'll be pushing for a Tea Party equivalent movement to shake the show up...

Yes I was about to create a thread myself. It seems a miracle has happened in the Democratic Party.

If there has to be any hope for this country, the rich white establishment of the Dem party needs to be in the trash can where it rightfully belongs. The filthy cynical corrupt bastards, the whole lot of them. Hopefully this is not a one off and is a harbinger of things to come.

Questions: Where will the money come from to realize her platform? I'd like to see it happen as much as anyone, but the idea that one can simply vote for prosperity is one of the great lies of democracy. Wealth is still finite. For those policies to be implemented you would pretty much need extremely high taxes on everyone and mandatory work enrollment, wouldn't we? Not to mention the dream of an upper-middle class or better lifestyle would end. Or could everyone "drop out" and still get their needs provided by government? If enough did so it wouldn't work, would it? I'd love to spend the rest of my life fishing more and working less, if the government makes housing and other stuff a right.

This establishment white D guy represented a district where the minority is the majority. Doesn’t even live in the district and sends his kids to school in Virginia. Yet gets his power and wealth on the backs of minorities

So very typical of the nature of the D party.

You know we just signed a $700 billion defense bill. Did you ever ask how we'd pay for that?

Or do you save those questions for trivial things like people's healthcare?

This is the year of the woman ( in politics ).
People had enough of all the grabbing and womanizing and old farts that should have been term limited long ago.
But about that turnout. OUCH!
If democrats hope to win by low turnout, good luck with that.
I'm sure the Trump crowd will be ready, willing and able to come out for Donald. Especially now that they got their Muslim ban.
Next is the wall, then good bye abortion, then more bans, then hunting down and jailing illegals, then a brand new effort to take away marriage from those nilly guys, and toss in the US Supreme Court.

Republicans are plenty energized.
Democrats, I guess, are waiting for a pink unicorn.
Or maybe Bernie Sanders?
Or Oprah?
How about Oprah and Bernie riding in on a pink unicorn?

We haven’t paid for it. Like good Americans we put it on the credit card. To be paid by future generations. So of course not our problem. I only care about myself, that too seems to be our society’s creed
