A $230 a Month Cable Bill From Time Warner Cable

Time Warner Cable is aiming sky high, according to this New York Daily News article. With a five billion dollar investment to upgrade their network, Time Warner hopes to begin offering movies on demand and other interactive services, eventually driving the per household bill mark past the two hundred dollar range. The ambitious digital cable rollout has left customers who don't want the upgrade with little to no options. More Time Warner business news can be found in this weekend's Reuters release.

This is good news! Maybe now people will try reading a little instead of sitting in front of the zombie box all day. 😛

Absolutely ridiculous, though.

BustaRhyme,

Part of the point of his post was that they will FORCE you to upgrade to digital cable (and perhaps other services as well) so you pay for it all or you pay for nothing [and get nothing].

"The ambitious digital cable rollout has left customers who don't want the upgrade with little to no options."

Hello Dish network? Yea I am gonna be dumping cable, how soon can you get a dish on my roof? Great thanks!

when the time comes i will get a dish too

Don't know what you are talking about. Timewarner gave me a free trial for digital cable, then they gave me digital cable for the same price I was paying before.

I have TW digital cable + road runner and my bill is around $110. I guess if I ordered 15 on demand movies my bill would hit double digits.

Hmm. I pay around $60/mo for digital cable. If I were forced to pay $200, I'd cancel the service too. (Why watch TV? Just rent dvd's, and get news/info from the internet.)

I'm gonna get a dish and then get my cousins in canada to hook me up with a card programer so I can make *special* cards 😉

<< They can't actually force everybody to upgrade to digital cable, can they ? 😕 >>

They can stop offering analog cable, can't they?

your bill is already in triple digits....

Cable rates are getting out of control, imo. My mom signed up for a cable modem, the thing was slower than dialup most of the time. Then she would also get bumped off by someone using the same IP. Adelphia's answer was for her to turn off her computer for 3 hours every time that happened. Nice service, eh?

I thought that cable companies were required by law to broadcast an analog signal along with their digital signal, anybody know if this is true ?

i got cablevision
not timewarner
but if i were to move dont know
sucks hey

Our cable company is doing the same thing. The analog signal is only good for basic cable now. If you want HBO or Cinemax you have to get a digital box. They are having a promotion for one year were you don't have to pay for the box.

I'm not sure what I'm going to do at the end of the year. I'm too far out for DSL and am using the cable modem, otherwise I'd just get a satellite receiver.

They expect more people to subscribe to cable with that? They are just looking out for themselves and no one else.

Hmmm, if they are the only cable provider in the area, can't people sue over unfair pricing or cable options?
That is ridiculous to pay for cable.

I originally signed up for Roadrunner only, no cable service. Of course, if you have RR, then you naturally have cable. After a few months, TW called and offered cable TV service for the same total price.
RR was pretty expensive by itself, but if you have cable already, the price is much cheaper, and that way I got to bitch about the crappy picture. 🙂

I can't imagine they can raise it to 200 bucks. They'd lose so many customers it'd be ridiculous.

I haven't had cable TV in years so there is a choice.

Imagine my surprise last year when I opened up my Rogers bill and found that it was for $1350.00!!!

That's what you get when you don't return the cable modem and digital terminal on time. 😀
