A 23 hour workday...wow, I'm having so much fun!

Alarm is non-op because of a dead battery (which should have alerted the alarm monitoring folks earlier in the day, but they were jerking themselves off and didn't notice apparently), and I have to babysit LOCKED SAFES until someone comes in at 0700. They shut the air off a few hours ago so it's stifling hot in here, and I can't even leave the building to get food (didn't get dinner) or the sleeping bag I have in the car.

This is one of those days that makes you appreciate even mildly decent ones. I'm mostly pissed because I haven't seen my daughter awake since Friday (military reserve duty this weekend kept me away until Sunday night, she was asleep when I got home -- left for work this morning before she awoke), and now I'll be dead tired as she's waking up tomorrow. I can suck up hours of boredom and some hunger, but she won't really understand why I can't play with her in the morning like I promised earlier today.

Ok, I'm done. Going to go lie down in front of the door and see if I can sleep at all.

[edit] UPDATE!!

FINALLY heard back from my co-worker, who had fallen asleep after arriving home and never heard the phone. She's coming in shortly to transfer the material to our main room, where it can be alarmed properly. THEN I can leave. So, only an eighteen hour day! I get to go home and sleep at an almost human hour and then wake up to see my little girl.

Can't even go to get something out of your car?

Um, what happens if you do? Apocalypse? lol

WTF They couldn't even leave the a/c on for you?

It's probably a pre-programmed thermostat.

So put that bitch on manual. Somebody there surely had the authorization to do that.

Are you at least hourly and getting some serious $$?

No, I'll get comp time -- no overtime without high level approval and extenuating circumstances (read: mandated by regulation).

Well, no -- I can't technically leave the vault at all. However, I could probably do it (people bend the rules all the time), but the doors to the building are locked at this hour. I have a keycard, but I have no idea if it actually works (have never used it) so I can't risk being locked out.
