Wow, that car looks hideous. I didn't know that it was possible to make wood trim look that BAD.

"I used to think that a car was for getting from point A to point B.. and on weekends, point C. But that was the old me. That man died the moment I laid eyes on a 1979 Honda Accord!"

Probably paid <$6000(probably closer to 4000) for it. A Corvette cost about $14k back then, my dads Chrysler Newport Custom was $8k. Adjusted for Inflation the guy didn't even get close to making his money back.

A couple of years back I saw a 1969 AMX on Ebay that had very few miles , AND, it had NEVER been registered! It was bought by the dealer for his son, and it had always had dealer tags on it. I seem to remember it had less than 1,000 miles on it as well.

That is the car I would DIE for!

Amazing. Further evidence that everything in the 70s was ugly. I was too young to remember. Interesting to see a basically new car that's about my age.

That car is so ugly its almost cool looking (almost) ... two things to keep in mind though, first is that although its not a collecters item now, give it 10 more years & it really will be close to one of a kind & worth a lot more money simply because of that fact. Second, it was cars like this one which gave Toyota the reputation they have for being bulletproof... they might have been ugly as sin, but they were cheap & extremely reliable.

It needs lots of rice. After scores of $1000's in bodykits it'll look better.

you could put 500,000 miles on that car. for $10K, that's a damn good car.

the wood trim is pretty ugly, though. ;)

Cool for the novelty, I guess...

However, as much as cars have advanced since then, you'd be hurting for utility...if you could bring yourself to drive it anyway

Now, if it were something a hair cooler...like a Mustang or a Z car

1976 Mustang, yech!

9 years newer and hell yeah!

What cost $4000 in 1976 would cost $13732.76 in 2005.

Also, if you were to buy exactly the same products in 2005 and 1976,
they would cost you $4000 and $1165.10 respectively.

:D n/m what it would have gained with interest in a bank account or whatever

Automatic transmission. Yuk. The manual transmission versions of these older Japanese cars wasn't bad, but autos back then were not really very good performers.
