Also, the usual range pilots try to use them are around 1200-1500yards. 2 miles is technically doable, the ballistic profile of the bullets will do tat range, but accuracy will be a bit of a problem.

This is what an A10 sounds like, completely different sound profile:

That's what 10k lb/ft of recoil sounds like.

I'm assuming you mean rounds per minute, not second. A gun firing 3900 rounds per second would be absolutely insane.

Well excuse me if I'm extremely skeptical that a million rounds were fired independantly in that last volley.

You're right. That's just the rate that it was firing, not that a million rounds were fired. I don't think that idea will catch on because the rounds are all stored in the barrel, limiting the capacity.

Haha oh yeah, do'h! Stupid of me. In my defense it's 4 in the morning 🙂

OP, you should know chain emails are BS.

in the linked video, it appears the fire is coming from camera left, as opposed to a coaxial camera. could someone explain?

that's Metalstorm. although impressive, i don't think the technology will catch on except for a few specialized roles, like unmanned stationary sentries.

I didn't think it was a A-10 but wanted to confirm it. Yea most chain emails are garbage. Interesting footage though, wonder what would have happened it it really was A-10.

Holy shit that would freak me out.

We had a F-18 go danger close on a gun run and the impacts were ~75 meters from us and it was freaky, but nothing like that. Turned 3 or 4 Taliban into dirt though 🙂

I used to lase for them in Germany. They can tear a truck body to pieces.

The Cobras were pretty neat too. They come in and hover and fire the minigun. This pushed them backwards and raised the tail.

We didn't have Cobra support for my Afghanistan deployment. We had to rely on British Apaches and Danish fixed wing for the most part. Sucks being the first guys on the ground in a couple of years. :Q
