i've had this file in my Quake 2 dir for as long as I can remember, and it's also in the dir of an mp3 program i have. if I remove it, quake 2 runs just fine seemingly

the 'reg' part would suggest something about registration....or something. anyone know what it's for? i like to keep my dirs clean

A quick look on Google makes me believe its part of Cydoor spyware. I suggest grabbing the latest version of AdAware and see what that reveals.

Try to move the files to a different location (i.e. a floppy) and see if it breaks anything.

I wouldn't really worry to much about itt though, as long as you've done a search for spyware and viruses (have you done that yet?) you should be fine!
