If I was you I would have gone with something a little tougher than those posts like maybe something similar to what they use to set a chain link fence so that they bend and not break. I am thinking that way the car will ride up and over the post. It will damage the underside of their car but should stop it from coming as far into your yard.

The only reason I say this is my parents had a 4x4 for a mailbox post with the base set in concrete. One night a kid went off the road and hit the mail box head on. The post just sheared right off at the base and the car kept going. If it slowed it down, it didn't slow it down much. Screwed up the front end of the guys car a bit though. The guy's dad reamed him out good and made him come apologize to my dad and everything, lol. My dad's like that's ok. Just get me a new 4x4 and I'll just put the mail box on it and pop it back in the ground, hehe.

I don't know about boobie traps but there's a curve around the corner from where my parents live and people were always going off the road there into the guy's front yard. He had one of those rail fences set up right along the road and every winter someone would smash through it into his front yard. After the 5th or 6th time rebuilding his fence, he finally tore it down and had a huge boulder placed right in his front yard where the cars kept coming through. I don't know if it got people to slow down when going around that curve, but they certainly will not be going anywhere near his house if they lose ccontrol.

A friend here at work had a similar problem, drunk hit his house in an old CJ, 80lbs of brick stripped off the porch and launched 150' into his neighbor's yard. He has responded with many trips to the city planner submitting plans etc, and build himself a nice rock wall, nearly a moat. The only thing the city inspector seemed concerned with was visibility around the corner and total height of the fence. Your results will definitely vary.

The CJ held up remarkably well, didn't seem to even tweak the frame, bumper dented about 3", some suspension torn off when he landed.

In your armpit, eh? That must have been no fun. Got over a mild case on my lower back earlier this year. In my case, it was not a big deal. I only had a few days when it bothered me to the point I took something for the pain.

I was thinking the same thing - will those posts really slow down a car enough to do the job?
