*-_ KT266a AMD or SiS645 P4? _-*

I am going to build a new system by mid January. It is not possible to wait longer than that, due to the fact that I have promised my current system to someone, so please do not tell me to hold out for this, or that.

What I want is the fastest most reliable system with maybe some mild overclocking. I would like to have an AMD SiS645 platform, or a nForce420 board, but it doesnt look like what Im looking for will be available by then.
I was leaning hard toward AMD KT266a until I found out about the ASUS P4S333(SiS645).

Can someone please tell me if going with Intel will get me rock solid stability and performance. I am hearing too much negativity about poor AthlonXP platforms, and most of what I hear about P4 for the most part makes me think that is what I need. I havent learned enough in the year that I've been using a computer to be able to get myself out of serious technical issues with mobo's.

Does the P4 SiS645 platform outperform by a lot, the KT266a?
I am not concerned with the increased cost of a P4 system.
I will be doing some SERIOUS GAMING.
Thanks for helping

I would wait for more reviews on the northwood, and see how the 1.6 and 1.8 cpus are priced. The 2.0 and 2.2 versions are pretty expensive, but the slower versions may be in your price range. Otherwise, expect another price drop in the old 478 versions of p4 by the end of Jan, after the northwood comes out on Jan 3rd or 7th. Amd might cut their prices also.

Just can't recommend the P4 over the AMD in either performance or price. AMD is simply, outrageously better. It may be less chic. Oh,well....

If money is not a problem, get the fastest XP Processor to date and put it on a KT-266A board.

You WILL NOT be disappointed!

Get EPoX 8KHA+ motherboard too 🙂

Meanwhile, maddoggmotorsports I'll look for benchmarks for you comparing the ASUS P4S333 and KT266A.

I smell an AMD vs. Intel flaming war coming up 😉

I do a lot of gaming with my AMD based system with Epox 8KHA+ and stability is excellent,if you want to stay with Intel CPU I would go with a Intel board myself.

🙂

<< How do you think the KT266a is going to compare to the Northwood >>

I don`t know why people worry about these things there will always be new chipsets around the corner, once you have the funds and have decided to upgrade go for it,I mean you can have the fastest cpu with fastest chipset but how long do you think that`s going to last?

🙂
