Yea it's rooted and unlocked boot loader on 5.01 with custom recovery. Once I receive the 64 GB device as a replacement I will unroot and take it back to stock to send back to Motorola. I just hope they get what I ordered to me sometime because I feel odd paying for a 64 and using this 32gb device. Not bad, not bad at all. It looks like very characteristic battery performance of Krait 400 @1080p. @2560x1440 it is keeping up with S800 device, it seems.
Did you root it or do you plan to?
Yea encryption only has the software layer of protection to a point. I have had no issues using adb and fastboot to run commands. Most users who ran bench marks got higher scores without encryption on 5.0 but they got just as high scores with 5.01 and encryption on the device. So since I updated to the latest I didn't bother decrypting the boot image. Performance is great.Do root and encryption get along well? During adb and fastboot operations reboots are unavoidable and have been wondering whether encryption might interfere.
Decided to use the 32 GB I mistakenly received from Motorola while they take their time to send me the 64gb whenever that will be. Off charger at 6am today. Usage is 45min to an hour of blutooth streaming in the car, texting , tapa, some Facebook, browsing while at work. It's now 6:39pm and I have 27% battery left. I guess not bad.

Don't think it's needed. Phone is plenty fast as is. I'm debating weather to use google now and keep location on via battery saver location mode. I'll try that today and see how it goes.No mention of a switch to turn off encryption in the Android 5.1 update anticipated in February.

Yeah, I think it's much ado about nothing... I understand that a benchmark shows a significant difference, but I haven't seen anyone who has turned it off, reporting any noticeable difference.Don't think it's needed. Phone is plenty fast as is.
4-5 sot time seems the norm for moderate to heavy use. Even with decryption it may improve it by a bit I'm not sure. But until wug fresh's tool is updated to 2.0 getting updates via decrypted is a pain. I don't get that much screen on time, I've had the phone since December 2nd but I didn't decide to use it until yesterday so my battery isn't properly calibrated yet. Yesterday my location was off and I got about 4hr screen on and when it got down to 15% I plugged it in to charge.I have also reqd reports of users saying it has improved speed and battery life. Phone is fast enough for me but if I could squeeze some more battery life out of it that would be good. I'm getting 4-4.5 SOT all stock.
Nice review. Which do you think is a better fit? Xtreme guard or xtreme guard revised? Once my 64gb replacement comes in I'll want one of these. For those curious about a couple of tempered glass screen protectors:
Xtremeguard Original vs Xtremeguard REVISED vs Orzly
My Orzly finally came in after ordering back in November and then sending them an email that it never arrived and it finally came today. My revised Xtremeguard came a little while ago and then I still have my original Xtremeguard.
The original Xtremeguard is on the left, revised Xtremeguard is in the middle and the Orzly is on the right.
The original X is the largest and the reason why it did not adhere is that it was made to cover the entire glass portion of the phone so it was sitting off the rounded edge. It came loose in a white foam type wrap.
The revised X is slightly smaller in height and width so it covers only the flat portion of the screen. It also comes in a hard plastic case.
The Orzly is the smallest of the bunch and will obviously only cover the flat part of the screen and looks like just a bit less than the revised Xtremeguard. It also has a much larger cut out portion on top presumably to leave the sensor left of the speaker uncovered. The Orzly comes in a box with some extra crap, but realistically is the same glass as the Xtremeguard just costs a lot more and takes forever to arrive. 2nd and last time I buy Orzly as I have since found Xtremeguard which makes comparable if not better glass and ships much faster and customer service is great.
Couple of pictures to give you an idea. I took the pictures on some lined paper so you can see some of the size difference.

I have a slim but sturdy tpu case on the current phone so I think I too will go with the revised model. The case currently goes over the rounded edge to protect that part of the screen. If you want full coverage but the edge not totally seated then the original. If you want something that covers the screen except for the rounded edge and does not have gaps underneath then the revised.
I prefer the revised as its near invisible when its on and it covers the majority of the screen.
Check XDA as well as there is a lengthy thread going on there in the Accessories section.
