What should the namens of the racing teams be?

  • "The Starks" and "The Lannisters"

  • "Buddies" and "Hollies"

  • "Tin Men" and "Aluminum Allies"

  • "Cowboys" and "Indians"

Thanks for the stats Peter. My ppd should level out at about 1.3 million. Until the race is over, and I turn off a few boxes. Its hot in here, even with all the windows open, and 40f outside.

All I can do is second this.
Can't imagine the electric bill for MarkFW !!!!

$350 a month in the winter. I have to turn boxes off in the summer.

But one small piece of good news, the natural gas bill is very low. The furnace has not come on in years, even when its below freezing outside.

Lol, amazing! awesome output!
Could it be worthwhile to generate at least some of your own electricity?? Have you looked into it?
Oh btw...
344.75, and I have just a few versions before that installed, so I don't know that I would need driver cleaner. Isn't that just for changing companies ? Like AMD to NVidia ?

No it's also for clearing out left overs from previously installed drivers, the std uninstall doesn't get rid of everything! At least I know that's the case for AMD, but I think it's true for NVidia too.

Thx for all the stats Petrus 🙂 (btw how was that storm in the end?)

It seems my output is holding between 15-18k, partly because I've been playing quite a bit of Elite Dangerous but also I get severe GUI lag in windows when GPU crunching.
Anyone know if I can stop that whilst still crunching? Atm I just pause the GPU WU when I use my rig.

A faster GPU should help a little, but games can still screw-up things.

For non-game-usage on the other hand, many modern cpu's includes a low-end GPU. While this GPU can't be used for crunching FAH, it should have no problems handling non-game windows-usage, so just connect your monitor to this connection on the mainboard.

If this isn't an option but you've got an old GPU too old (or weak) to crunch on and you've got a free slot in your computer, you can connect your monitor to this old GPU instead.

Anyone using a 750 or 750Ti out there? I seem to get relatively low ppd for anything core18 (~20-25k). For most core17, it jumps up to 55-60K. I saw some threads from a few months ago on other forums talking about issues with the core causing them to error out, but it looks like that was fixed. I did see a thread complaining about core18 for people with 970's & 980's, and an earlier post here by Gleem, so I guess it applies to all Maxwells?

BTW, if any DC-ers play War Thunder, Strife or Infinite Crisis and want the $150 in-game credit that they've been promo-ing with new nvidia cards, just let me know.

I'm not planning on upgrading the GPU just yet (next yr sometime), I was thinking of any F@h tweaks to fix it.

As per my sig, my CPU isn't modern, it was launched in 1/08 😉, no integrated GPU.
Interesting point about a 2nd GPU, I think I do have a 2nd PCIE slot but only a spare ancient X800 card. Not sure I want to put a 2nd card in for driver/game issues either.
I guess if theirs no s/w tweak I'll just have to carry on killing it whilst I use it.
Thx anyway 🙂

Well, I have a 660ti and it gets 57k ppd on core 18's.

I can't figure out exactly what the problem is with core 18 and maxwells. Stanford says there's a bug in the nividia drivers that needs to be fixed. Perhaps they are hoping for opencl 1.2 support in the drivers? No nvidia cards/drivers support opencl 1.2 or later. The last version nvidia supports is opencl1.1.

I think the issue is OpenCL vs Cuda for Nvidia. Nvidia is pushing for cuda for GPU computation apps and since OpenCL 1.2 was released in 2011 and Nvidia still doesn't support it, I don't have high hopes for OpenCL/Nvidia support going forward. 🙄

I fear core 18 + full potential of Maxwell will require a cuda app.

See this thread for at least part of the discussion/problem.

Hopefully they will have solved this problem before next year's race.

Nice progress! Only 9 days of the race ... lets get cracking! And the teams are so balanced now.

Here are the stats in an other view:

But production has dropped a teeny weeny bit ... :-(

Lets crank it up a little, OK?

Merry Christmas and Thanks for all the Folding for science!

Congrats to all!

Oh, BTW, I forgot to mention that yesterday:
The racers have produced more than 100 000 000 points during this race - and that before Christmas Eve! My prognosis is a total production of the racers of approx. 143 000 000 points, about 33% more then in 2013.

Today we have produced 106 796 762 points; the total production in the 8th race was 106 460 799 points, with 24 racers.

Computing power has increased, hasn't it? 😉
