For Xeon you need Slot2, for PII-III you need a SLOT1.
Slot1 can fit into SLOT2 with an adapter, but Slot2 can't go into slot1.

This is actually pretty close to the average goin price on these things lately. I got a Xeon 400 with 1mb L2 for $135 last week...
But it is the MB that will set you back.

Also IMHO getting a XEON 400 w/ 512KB is a bit of a waste, as that is essentially the same as a regular P2 400. (with the exception that the Xeon can do 4 way processing)

um, that would be the point of the deal...

BTW, I havent been able to find plain p2 450s for under 150. Can you better this deal or something?

I still believe that 99 for a P2 400 xeon is red hot considering that a linux server would scream with 2 of these bad boys...:)

Take a look on pricewatch, or take a look at Hitechcafe:

P2 Xeon 400 - .5MB - $99
P2 Xeon 400 - 1MB - $139

The Xeon starts to get a little pointless with 256k of cache. The lack of cache makes SMP less useful.
