Looks like a decent system. VIA chipset, supports Athlon-Duron up to 1GHZ. Microcenter doesn't have online ordering so you've got to stop by their store to pick it up.

  • GVC Socket 462 AR862 Motherboard
    MicroATX Chassis
    Floppy drive
    56K soft modem
    3 PCI slot
    1 AGP slot
    AD1881 Audio
    250W Power supply

Here's a link with additional info. link

These things just keep popping up all over the place. I have built 4 of these myself and helped a friend build a 5th one. The all worked great running a TB 900.

Wow! Very good deal. I just checked out the Microcenter ad and they also have an I-Net barebones with i810 chipset. Anyone know anything about this?

Looks very small. I wonder if it has a pci slot

Scandal,

No, the i810e barebones system at MicroCenter does NOT have a PCI slot. It does have integrated sound, LAN, video (including S-video out), but you'll be stuck with the i810e's integrated 4 MB video. You need to add a CPU + heatsink/fan (no idea what'll fit in there, probably nothing too big), SDRAM memory (two DIMM slots), and a hard drive. I looked very closely at this thing last weekend -- it has a 110 w power supply, I believe.

It's very tiny -- good if you need to stick a basic websurfing, e-mail, word processing machine in a tight space.

Piblokto,
Thanks for the awesome info. I'm going to check one out today. I like the small size of them. Only going to use it for web and dvds. I'll replace the slim cdrom with a slim dvd off ebay.

I don't believe the Microcenter barebones has integrated video. The specs say nothing about it but it DOES have an AGP slot. Previous post's link has integrated video, which would be a deal-killer for many people.

BTW, what the heck is "Socket 462" motherboard?

my aunt co-worker at her dentist office is building a 4 or 5 computer network in the office...the office is moderately sized, but he needs small cased computers, MicroATX or smaller...he said he would most likely CONSIDER buying these to use because of their size and that its only $100 with alot of the stuff he needs already in there...

He also said he needs 17" LCDs for cheap...he would go with 15" (he needs an LCD b/c of the space limitation...CRT's have too much depth) but he needs the resolution to be AT LEAST 1280x1024 b/c of some dental program that only runs WELL at resolutions of AT LEAST 1280x1024...but 17" LCDs are quite steep at $700-$800...so if any of you guys know where to get 17" LCD's for a relatively good price, PM me or something...

If he buys those AMD barebones anytime soon, ill let you guys know how it goes...

Actually, I'd consider no onboard video a significant plus. How I hate cheap 810 chipset MBs with no AGP slot, which is what most barebones systems are. As far as no manual, should be able to DL one from the manufacturer's web site. (although it might be in Korean...)

Does anyone know where else you can get the I-Net barebones from? Microcenter was all out in my area. Is there anyone on the net that sells these barebones?

Thanks,

I stoped by Microcenter the other day. It is infact the Andara Barebones. Very nice little system. MIne is working well with a Athlon 900mhz, 1gb of ram, and 120gb HD. Those looking to build a cheap little system, I say go for it. You won't go wrong with this barebones system. Just get the modified bios.
