$99 - 2500+ BARTONS?

look at this link here:

$99 bartons at fticomputer.com?

They have the RETAIL 2500+ bartons for considerably less than the next best OEM offering seen on Pricewatch (even with the $10 shipping). However, it says "SHIPS ON MAY 26."

I noticed this last night (Monday the 19th). There is now one more site having reduced priced Bartons that ship on the 26th.

Could this be an indication that prices will drop for these CPUs early next week or is it some sort of gimmick?

They don't have great resellerratings (see here). People will no doubt be very highly suspicious that this is your first post (i.e., that you work for this company).

Very good observation!

Interesting...

Take a look at the CPU reviews and you will find that they don't really run any faster than the 2400+/2600+ non-Bartons in most cases. I think people are figuring it out and staying away from them, hence the demand forces prices down. The problem is that the barton chips have 512K cache but actually lowers the clock. A 2400+ Thorougbred B CPU has a higher clock than the 2500+ Barton. It looks like a 2400+ runs with the 2500+ and you can get them for $102 (boxed) easily at places like Newegg and Googlegear.

Yea but people have also said real world performance is better, and you can still overclock them.

And if you do seti or large number crunch programs the extra cache does help.
