Is she a boa constrictor or something? 😕

KENNEBUNK, Maine -- Sonya Thomas has done it again. The 98-pound speed-eating marvel from Alexandria, Va., gobbled down 44 lobsters in 12 minutes yesterday in Kennebunk, Maine.

That's a new state record that also humbled her bigger male competitors.

In all, she consumed over 110 pounds of lobster meat, breaking the old record by more than a pound. The five contestants ate the equivalent of 113 lobsters.

110 pounds of lobster? How much will that run you in the average restaurant?

Anyway, she's getting fairly close to Kobayashi in the hotdog eating competition.

I can't understand how a person can consume so much volume/mass in such a sort time & live to tell.

It would be like consuming 10 gallons of water ++ protein/fibers if the lobster flesh have the same moisture content as red meat.

<-- Shudder at the though of a 98 lbs woman stomach stretches to accommodate the volume the size of 10~13 four gallon jugs of milk (or 2.5X the volume of 20 gallon water bottles)

Perhaps they included the shells and other inedible bits in the weight.
It is impossible even if they included all inedible parts because the volume of 5~6.5 four gallon milk jugs are way larger than anyone stomach can handle.

Thomas (The Lobster Queen) has earned $50,000 this year on the competitive eating circuit.

Next weekend, she'll compete in a crabcake-eating competition in Delaware.

she's actually really tiny. we watched her eat during the july 4th hot-dog eating contest sponsored by nathan's in coney island. she had about 27 (?) hot dogs in 12 minutes, which was definitely not as close to this record. :Q (she came in second)

i have a friend who's abou 100 lbs, its wierd to think that she could fit in that womans stomach. i wonder what she looked like after the contest, pregnant?
