Hi,

I'm guessing this might be a recent driver issue or something, but I haven't played WOW for a couple weeks and suddenly whatever settings I had (which mind you were high, I think graphics quality is set at 10/10 which yields ultra/high for most settings)...vsync is on, monitor is 3415W (60hz), and FPS is at 30. Resolutoin is 3440x1440.

I turned vsync off for a second and it fluctuates between 18 and 80FPS. Strange. It's an i7/16GB/980TI.

I didn't notice any FPS issues before this.

Any ideas or has anyone else noticed this?

Thanks,
ELmO

The first rule with WoW is update all your mods, and make sure they aren't causing issues.

Suspicions have been raised against the recent rounds of Windows updates changing the Xbox gaming app to run with DVR mode on.

NVIDIA Control Panel > Manage 3D settings > Program Settings > WoW > Configure accordingly
Did this with Dota 2 when it was limited to 10fps, fixed it for me.

Is this a constant problem? Do note that 30 FPS is the default setting for the off-screen framerate limiter, which would leave me to believe that may be the culprit.

I have noticed some really poor performance issues in WoW, which most notably occur in Suramar. Visually, there's nothing intense on the screen, and sometimes, simply walking into a dilapidated building causes the framerate to jump back up. Overall, my framerate ranges from 40-90 FPS while in Suramar, and that's on a GTX 1080. I've tried tweaking settings, but at best, I may gain 5-10 FPS.

Hi, thanks for the replies. I'm looking into what you guys mentioned now.

So I noticed it's not a constant problem. If I move the camera behind my character and near the ground, the grass blades apparently cause it to drop to 30FPS or below.

I did recently get the Windows 10 Anniversary Update (version 1607). I've been having problems with that update at work too.

Interestingly NVIDA Contorl Panel does not find WOW, it finds my other games though (The Witness, etc). I didn't try adding it yet.

Do you find it odd your 1080 is getting 40FPS in WOW? This game doesn't look that good. I have a 1080 downstairs with my Vive. I don't think I've noticed this before though.

That happened to me once like 2 years ago and it was that I changed to the power saving plan in Windows. It sounds trivial but it is a lesson I'll never forget.
