Umm i'm trying to decide whether to get a 5900XT or a 9800SE, the 5900XT has a good performance guaranteed while with the 9800SE i have a 50% chance that a softmod will turn it into a 9800 Pro. Wich one would you get?

Btw wich softmod version should i get?

Link to softmods

P.S can i use the omega drivers and the apply the softmod?

I am in a middle of a video card crisis right now, I just bought the 9800pro (built by ATI, full retail) for $189. I am still thinking of whether to keeping it or not.
So how much is the 9800SE gonna cost you?

I'd wait until next month before buying a new video card ;) If I had to buy a card now, I'd spend just a little extra on the 9800 Pro.

SE stands for "Special Education", which in video performance talk means SLOW CARD!!!! Stay away from SE cards in general. I wouldn't touch one with a 10 foot pole!!!!

Make sure you get a 9800SE with 256bit memory, or it won't come anywhere near a 9800pro.
It would be like a 9500pro if it has 128bit memory, which would still be a lot faster than a 9800SE.

The evga 5900XT overclocks like crazy. If that is your thing, you can get some pretty decent performance on it.

9800 Pro for $189? Where do you see that? I havent seen them lower than $200 since September. Still my card of choice, but like i said if the 20 bucks is THAT important to you....

256bit memory is the key to a new vid card. I think newegg has a Powercolor 9800se with 256bit memory for $155.

SE's arent that bad guys. Its a good alternative if you dont have alot of cash and you want a pretty decent card.

Or you could go for the pre-OCed BFG 5900OC, HardOCP just did a review.
