Just windering what the 9800gtx temp threshold is. Ive got the card OC'd to 774/1890 and the highest i have seen the temp get is 61*c. Oh yeah while overclocking the card using rivatuner, the memory clock says its at 1100mhz, while the stock is supposed to be at 2200, or is it because its ddr that when its showing 1100 it really means its @ 2200?

It's a DDR ram so the memory speed will be 1100 x 2. There is no definite threashold temperature, if you see a lot of artifacts then reduce the clocks immediately. Get a gpu cooler from Thermalright, it's very good for overclocking.

I believe that the "core slowdown" threshold , as Nvidia names it, it's somewhere around 115-120C. That is the temperature when the gpu will throttle back to save him self. ;) But, really, you don't want to touch that value, staying bellow 80 C is the safe way to be.

seems as htough i should be able to crank this thing up to 800mhz and possibly start raising the memory clock a bit more. Under full load while playing crysis it gets to about 61*c...will update on final OC

Final OC...cause i dont really want to push it anymore...800/1998/2232...full load temp 59*c with an increase in fan speed to 75%. #dmark vantage gpu score 3477 on high setting. Im satisfied!

Very nice. You're sure that it's stable?

Been running crysis in 1400x1050 resolution for at least an hour at a time and get no artifacts or any type of slowdown. I actually ended up rasing the memory clock up to 2300mhz. Still runs smooth as hell...except for the occasional low FPS in high graphics areas of the game. WHat would be the best way to stress test the card? Continuously running 3dmark vantage? Still doesnt seem to break 65*c at full load. Maybe having 4x120mm fans blowing on top of the card helps a bit. Also ended up rasing the GPU fan up to 80%.

Run ATI tool artifact scanner for an hour or more. If that doesn't give any errors then it's quite possibly stable. Play more games after that and if no crashes or artifacts occur, then you're good to go. ;)
