I don't think it would either.

Basically Tri-SLi is an enthusiast selling point and I don't think that it will ever be supported on any cards except the top of the line models (GTX, Ultra, etc.).

Why is it that nvidia is just now starting to think about putting this silly re-hash on the market with the only real perk is a 55nm version.

Assuming that it indeed is a 55nm part that would be a rather huge reason to do it. 8800GT performance levels with significantly lower power draw, much cooler running and cheaper to produce. With all of 348 different variants we are seeing of the 8 series this one would be close to the top in terms of making the most sense. Single slot cool operating slightly higher then 8800GT levels of performance, yeah, it would be a no brainer.

they will break through. the last episode of TNG we knew in the future they could go worp 13 or something.

9800 GT smaller die cheper to produce, newer product than 8800 gt so higher cost to sell!!

Performance will be about same at same speed's... But if 9800 GTX has taught me anything its that you have OC it like helllll!!

No, you don't get it. It's like warp speed in Star Trek TNG -- it's asymptotic towards 10. Warp 10 was infinitely fast, Q only travelled at warp 9.99999.

They were using a weird scale. NOTHING is faster than Warp 10, which basically means that you can be in any place in the know universe in one instant.

Flooding the market with confusing model numbers + ??? = Profit!

How did a discussion between nerds about future technology turn into a Star Trek convention? :p Measuring speed with an asymptotic scale was always a bad idea. That line from the movie was an acknowledgement of this. (The original series did not do it that way.)

I feel dirty. Yet strangely happy.

Depends on market situation. It uses G92b core which will be 20-30% cheaper to make than G92 and since it consumes less power it might have cheaper cooler than 8800 GT. So with luck it could drop close to where 9600 GT is right now. Don't know When Geforce 9600 GT with G94b will launch(that GPU is ready, not yet desktop solutions)..but 9600 GT should also drop to close $100 level.

Less Power = Less Heat? More overclockable? If so, 9800GT = win, even if it's just a minor rework instead of a major leap.

I was wondering if they would put out a 9000 series card comparable to g92 GTS and 8800GT. Is it going to be single slot cooling again, or will it be double? Or does anyone have any real info on it?
