9800 XT purchase now.

Friend just got a 9800 XT for 374 US and 598 CAN. I tried telling him that the geforce 6800 / X800 will be available in about 3-4 weeks and the XT prices will drop. Not only that, the 6800 and X800 should be about double the speed. I also told him he should go for the 128mb Pro to save money. Though its his choice, and I know he will be happy with his XT, but I think its a mistake. What do you guys think? Should he have gone for the 9800 pro, and saved about 200$, should he have waited till 6800 / X800 and XT prices drop, or should he have got the XT?
 
Sure hes happy, and i totally respect that. BUT, do you seriously think he made the right choice? Take it down to a price performance ratio.

pwn him with the new ati or nvidia stuff in a month, then sell it, and buy TWO 9800xts just to show him whos the king around there
 
Of course the 5 % extra performance doesn't justify the 200 dollar premium. But, he's happy and it's too late.
Stop telling him he could've gotten a better deal, it won't help him.
Therefore, let it rest.
