9800 Pro Video Memory Error

I need a little help with a video card problem.

The other night I was doing my usual thing screwin around on my computer and what not. Then I turned my chair away from my computer to play some Halo 2. After one of the games I turned back around to type something about the game to a friend online when I noticed my computer was no longer on. This was odd since I didnt turn it off. I looked down at the case and a bunch of lights were flashing. I tried to turn it back on but nothing happened. I had to power off the power supply in order to get the lights to stop flashing.

I then attempted to boot the machine back up but nothing happened, just a whole lot of beeps from the bios. So, after looking around a bit I found out that those amount of beeps had something to do with video memory failure. I removed the video card (9800 Pro 128mb) and plugged in an old Ati 7000 series I found in my closet. The computer then booted up just fine.

I put the 9800 back in just to make sure and i got the errors again.

So my question is, what exactly is wrong with my card? Is there anything I can do to fix it? I bought it around this time last year for $250, i'd really like to not have wasted that much money on something. I even bought some big ass cooling unit for the card just to give it extra protection from over heating or anything like that.

Sorry ive been away so i havnt had time to work on this issue.

ANyways, yes the 9800 requires to be connected to the power supply which it is, and always was but it still doesnt work. I've tried using other connectors that I know work and I still ahve the problem.

I dont have another rig that I can test the card in, but I do have other video cards that I can use in my current PC which all work. The 9800 is the only one that it will no longer boot up with.

Any ideas?
