9800 pro underclocking causes artifacts

Anyone have any ideas as to why my card would artifact at slower memory speeds? It runs ok at stock levels but when I underclock the memory I get artifacts. I have no idea why this would happen. The lower I move the memory speed the more artifacts I get. When it gets down to like 250mhz I get dots all over the place in windows.

I noticed that too -- when I accidentally dropped the memory speed WAY down on my 9800Pro, I got weird corruption problems. I have no explanation for it, though. Maybe it's just an issue with the 9800-series cards' memory controller?

Yeah it just seems really weird to me that that happens. You've got a piece of hardware that operates at 337mhz but it really sucks at 250mhz. That's just weird. Thank goodness my car doesn't work like this....at 80mph you're good, but watch out at 20mph, she's likely to blow up.

My car may work like this, I'd never know though...
