Has anyone had a compatibility problem using a 9800 Pro and an ASUS P4P800? My 9700 Pro is acting up with this motherboard, and I'm thinking about going to a 9800 Pro.

Any other thoughts? Has anyone been successful with this graphics card / motherboard combo?

What kinda probs are you having with the 9700 Pro? The 9800 Pro isn't much of an upgrade over that card and over at rage3d forums there's lots of people with 9500/9700 problems using the 4.xx drivers.

I'm having boot problems with my 9700 Pro. The motherboard manual states that the serial number of the 9700 Pro must end with 30 or later (mine ends with 00), for best performance.

Basically, I occasionally get a corrupt boot screen (and it is getting more frequent). Never had this type of problem with an NVIDIA card, but I wanted to see what ATI had to offer.

I'm just getting frustrated with it, and wondered if a 9800 would work better (since the manual has no special note concerning that model of card).

Um, disable fast write and write combining. Asus boards seem to have problems with 9700's. I've heard 9800's dont have teh problem, but im not sure if it's all of them.

I am having Asus P4P8X motherboard and PowerColor Radeon 9800 Pro. It runs great and I don't see any compatibility problems. By the way, I am using the most update Catalyst driver and motherboard BIOS updated.

I currently have an ASUSp4p800 and a Radeon 9800 pro 128, i had some random crashes to desktop when i was playing Warcraft 3 and Ragnarok. I tried changing the AGP speed to 4x and it helped for a while, but i got another crash yesterday...however, i don't know if this is MOBO related. Honestly, not a bad combo, but crashes = boo boo terrible. Just my 10,001 Cents.

Force AGPx4 in the BIOS. If you have one of the initial 9700 Pros it might have problems with running at AGP x8.
