My old 980 literally died on me this morning...doubled/blurry text to just no picture no matter what I do. Stuck in an old 580 I had and it fires up. Just can't power my 34" screen as its display port the card is DVI only.

Have to work this weekend using it and what's available in town is 2070 and 2080 founders and msi 2070 208 at a $40 higher price respectively. Either is better than my 980 I know...but is there any gain for me on the 2080's? I'm more cad/animation that game, but I do game Mainly older MMorpg's (Wow/Swtor/Warframe).

I'd go 1080TI but there aren't any in town that I can find. I have best buy and that's about it :(

Running Asus X99 deluxe/5820 at 4.2ghz/32GB if that matters. I was going to up the card in the spring but the universe seems to have other iplans.

Quick thoughts appreciated as I have to get some work in today

thanks!

I grabbed a 2080 FE from best buy for $629 with coupon and rewards to replace my 2 GTX 980's. After not upgrading to the 10 series earlier I figured I would just skip it and go for the 20 series since I only upgrade every 4-5 years. Not that I really had to, the 980's were fine on everything at Ultra I played except Vulkan written games that don't support SLI such as Wolfenstein II.
