Technicly the clutch is external from the transmission. Or as far as I understand it anyway.

Best thing to do is call them and say:

This POS is making a ton of noise form the area of the transmission, if you think I am going to purchase this in its current condition you are crazy, come pick it up and call me when Its fixed and we MIGHT talk after that.

Of course make the now sketchy dependability of the truck a major point when you are negotiating the price.

I don't believe clutch would be covered under that 30 day/1000 mile warranty, but it might be. I'm not sure, I've been out of the biz for awhile + I was never in it for very long. Minnesota doesn't have any retarded 3-day "buyer's remorse" law, BTW, but the warranty on cars under 75,000 miles and 8 (?) years old offers reasonable protection, IMHO. But that's all moot, since it's not yours yet. The dealer will be fixing it. Whether you buy it afterwards, that's up to you and the dealer. If I was in your situation, my decision to buy it would depend mostly upon how they handle everything, and what work they do.

They told us to drive it back and see how far we could get it, and if it quit, they'd come pick it up...

Hopefully they handle it well and fix it and then we can get the truck...

I mean how as soon as you turn around to go back to the dealer the noise or problem disapears. The Dealer will never hear it, and it will come back as soon as you drive out of the dealers parking lot again. Murphy's Law man :D

It started up again..

i think I know how I can get it so it makes the noise when we bring it back to the dealer... you just let the clutch out kinda hard and give it gas.. that's how it started up again (I didn't do it, mom had fun driving it and it started for her lol)
