Obviously, the only way to know is test it with another PS, but I suspect you may be lucky. There could be an internal short of simply a bad capacitor or other component. If everything is shot I'd just send it back, but not tell NewEgg what happened.

No way to tell without trying a new one. I think there was a problem with some of the True Power PSU when they first came out with that. Some of the early AMD dually PSU also had this problem. Fortunately most were not damaging to the system if memory serves me correctly.

Shouldn't PSU manufactorers have to pay for that? I know since its a new mobo/cpu you can RMA it from newegg....but what if you were putting in a 9700pro and wanted more juice...

mine didnt take the mobo or processor but did hit the video card so ymmv

but you may get lucky
