Question 970pro 512gb and 1tb in RAID?

So I've just purchased a new PC that came with Samsung 970 pro 512gb. Then I purchased an additional 1tb 970 pro drive since I needed additional space. Should I configure these these two drives in raid?

Better make sure that your motherboard has two M.2 PCI-E slots.

Or that both the slots operate at Gen 3 x4 speeds. Some motherboards only have one of the new slots, and the other is a slower slot like Gen 2 x2. This is pretty common on many Ryzen motherboards, but I've seen it on a couple Intel ones as well.

The motherboard I have is Asus rog maximus xi hero xi. It has 2 slots pci 3 x4 compatible.

It sounds like you are free to do it then. That said, I don't think 99.9% of users will benefit from running already fast NVMe drives in RAID.

If I were you, I'd use the smaller drive as your OS / app drive, and use the larger drive for your programs / games.
