9700pro and NF7-s problem

I was witnessing a guy at the local shop set-up a NF7-S (new rev) board with a ATI 9700 Pro and the computer wouldn't even boot.
put the 9700 Pro in an MSI 845PE and it worked perfect.

freaks me out.. I guess the NF7 has some anomalies with that video card..

Do a SAFE BOOT into windows ...

Uninstall the card in Device Manager...

Then BEFORE the next Boot into windows go ...

In BIOS

make sure you have ...

AGP Mhz set to 66
AGP voltage 1.5

In Advanced Chipset Features...

System BIOS cacheable DISABLED
Video RAM Cachable DISABLED.
AGP aperture size equal to HALF of installed memory.
FSB spectrum DISABLED
AGP spectrum DISABLED
Thermal thottleing DISABLED
Enhance PCI DISABLED
CPU Disconnect DISABLED
AGP transfer 8x.
AGP fast write ON.

AND make sure your POWER CONNECTOR is pluged into card.

When you get into windows ...

Cancel the AUTOMATIC installation of device drivers for the card ...

Then use Installation CD to install the drivers.

thanx a lot Noid, i checked and made sure the settings was at 66mhz and 1.5V, but i havent tried the advanced features yet. i'm sure the power connector is on becuase i can boot into windows just fine about 90% of the time. also how do i do a safe boot and is it OK to use the drivers on ATI's site instead of the CD??

Hit F5 when the dotted line is moving across the lower screen at bootup for "Safe Boot'

yes ,, those are fine ... Just be sure NOT to let windows do that Automatic installaion of the drivers ...

Use the ones you downloaded.

any suggestions about what to do about it?

Your question has already been answered, but I was going to say no.. the problem you are having is different than the one I saw... the combination of the 2 wouldn't even boot at all. 😛 I was just tellin you that I have witnessed a problem between these 2.
