correct me if im wrong, but shouldnt an OEM part be the same as a retail w/o the bundled software and guidebook.... Once agin im away from my home comp so i cant tel you what my retail gigabyte 9700pro speeds are but they are faster than 300 core (~325 OC 365) and 620 memory (~310(x2) i think with a max OC of 330)...

It almost looks as though you have a 9700 (not pro)

Yea, I would swear you have a "regular" (non-pro) 9700, because the Pro has ~2.8ns memory, not 3.x.

Actually, I have a oem Sapphire built 9700 Pro that has 3.6ns memory chips, but the core & memory are 310 & 325 which is suppose to be right for a pro card. If your 9700 board is red, it's a pro (I think).

This is a oem, made by Ati pro card with 300 265 timming.People say all pro cards are 325 310 and this is a non pro card ,but the cards device id # is 4E44 which stands for a R300 Radeon 9700 Pro. Is this a PRO OR NON PRO

Flash it with the Pro bios, then there won't be any questions :) Pro or non-pro, they are all 8xAGP compatable cards so 4x should not be any sort of issue. You do have 4x enabled in bios, right?

If it's not running 325MHz core and 310MHz memory, then it's not a Pro.

There are some weird hybrids on the market that are being labeled "pro" cards. I got one of them off of Gogglegear made by PowerColor. It was labeled as an oem "pro" card but there was an asterik next to a disclaimer that the core was actually 300. The link to the card said it was an actual "pro" with the 325/310 setting. the card was $275 plus a $1 shipping so I knew that chances are, it wasn't a pro. It isn't and I'm not calling it a pro anymore. Power strip shows this card to clock at 298/264.... PowerColor also has a 9700 "gold" which has a core clock of 275. It was going for $225. I'm kind of miffed at myself because I was hoping that it was a misprint by Gogglegear, but they were just being upfront about this "pro" card. Anyway, you get what you pay for. After struggling with the install, everything runs fine now with dx9 and 3.0 cats. I'm hesitant about overclocking this card since I think it's already been juiced a bit so it can pass as a "sort of pro".
john3850, I had problems with x1agp because of a bad install of the control pannel. Doing a clean install and loading everything the right way was the only way I got it to x4agp.

It's not running at full AGP speed because SmartGART has deemed that your system would be unstable with it.

The first thing to try is to make sure that you have the latest BIOS and chipset drivers installed for your system.
