9700--VS--9800

is there a big difference or not

i run 3 machines-a server-and 2 gamers

both gamers run nvidia--(1)--gf-3 ti-500--(#2) has a gf4- ti- 4200 8X 128 meg

just for kicks i put in a 32 meg gf-2 gts --and went gaming

guess what? not that much of a difference - in synthetic benchies a huge difference

but when it came down to gaming--it was optically the same

SO

now i have a chance to see the flip side of the coin

a sweet deal on a 9700 or buy the 9800

thanks guys

i guess i have to stop posting while enjoying multiple frosty beverages:beer:

so the answer is---9700--9800 are "basically" the same performance, without major enhancements,

thank you

You didn't mention what games you're playing. If you're playing Counterstrike or Deus Ex, then no, there wouldn't be much difference between the various cards. But if you're playing more recent games, it might.

I hope you mean "9700--9800" are "basically" the same performance, which is essentially true. NOT true for the 9600, which is way slower.

the 9800 is a bit faster but it only costs like $15 more, but since you're getting a deal, i guess the 9700 is a better buy (depending on how much u are paying that is)
