The 9700 provides better performance than the 9500pro/9600 but ti costs nearly the same. At it's 200$ mark it's within striking distance of the 9700 pro but nearly 100$ cheaper. Why do o people still buy 9700 pro's with the 9700 still one of the best deals on the planet?

The 9700 is what I'm going with when I build my computer this summer. Just a little less clock speed when compared to the Pro, and as you said, nearly a 1/3rd price reduction.

But do you think the pep (10%) is worth the 33% price difference?

I guess the "Pro" cards have really come down in price lately... it USED to be a big deal saving $100.... saving $50 or less isn't that big of a deal anymore.

There's some awesome deals to be had on the 9700 Pro.... if you're American. *sigh* :(

Yeh I was considering the 9700 until I thought about THIS! Is 20% more worth a 10% increase? You should be saying is an extra 5% of what your computer cost you ($50 out of $1000) worth a 10% increase in game performance. Hell yes it is!!! Think about it...

Unsung hero? No, not really.

Take a gander in the video frum at people asking for advice.

Quite often people advise the 9700 non-pro card, down there it's a recognised hero.
