i was wondering how i could fix this problem. is here sorftware or a place i can send it too. my ati 3 month warranty is up. :-( but can i still send it to them to fix for under 75 bucks or somewhere. plz help.

Thanks for the help but im just gonna rma, hopefull they dont find out i tampered with it but its only 75 bucks to fix. better then buying a new thats for sure. i have a 9800 pro to hold me over for the time being. i just dont want the 9700 pro to go to waste.

ati's warranty for retail boards is 3 years, i assume you have oem...

and where are these artifacts from?

they happen when i play games, and just do basic things. icons faded, games really distorted and what not.

ah, ocsystem... i avoid that place like the plague :disgust: I don't think I've ever heard anything good about that place. They normally overclock their components right? If your card is overclocked then i'd suggest lower the frequencies back down until the artifacts go away. You also might make sure your card isn't a soft/hard modded 9500 that was turned into a 9700, I'm pretty sure ocsystem used to sell these, and there was generally a 50/50 chance of the card working right with no artifacts/errors after being modded.

it wasnt oc'd, just had them put a new heatsink fan on it. i checked with rage3d and everything seemed ok.
