9700 pro AIW (reatail) @ MWAVE: $336.54

Prices are dropping because the AIW 9800 Pro is due any day now. The 9800 has several nice advantages over the 9700 besides just clock speed (longer instruction support, better stencil support) that will make a difference in such games as Doom 3.

yeah, i'm hoping for this to come closer to 275 before I get it. Also, I guess I could not be lazy and just look it up, but I heard that the aiw 9700's clock settings are NOT different from the regular 9700 pro. is this true? I thought all AIW's were "slower" than their non-aiw counterparts.

GetSome:

What you said was true in that previous AIW cards were actually clocked slower than the regular Radeons.

Starting with the AIW 9700 Pro, the clock speeds are exactly the same as the regular cards, giving an AIW 9700 Pro all the performance of a regular Radeon 9700 Pro plus TV and VIVO capabilities.

I'd be interested to see what ATI does this time around with the AIW 9800 Pro. Hopefully this time also they keep the clock speeds the same as the Radeon 9800 Pro.

It's already been announced that the clock speeds on the AIW 9800 Pro will be the same as the non-AIW card. And you're correct...it will debut with a $449 retail price.

Maybe when the AIW 9700 gets down to $250 I'll finally be able to talk my wife into letting me sell the old AIW 8500DV and upgrade.
