9700 or 9800 (non-pro) - what would your choice be!

im thinking of getting either a 9700np or 9800np, obviously there are cash differences and my cash budget is pretty tight right now, so shall i stick with the 9700 or is it REALLY worth that £30 extra for 9800?

well since it would have taken them 3 days to restock, i cant wait that long! i just got the 9800 non pro, hopefully it'll be a fair amount more decent though i dont really expect that much more.......

anyways, get the 9700np. the 9800np is just a 9700np w/ a slightly higher clock...its not worth the extra money.

Wrong. The 9800 uses a different core from the 9700, although not a lot of difference. Whether it's worth the money or not, you be the judge 😉

the 9800 np is about equivalent to to the 9700 pro in performance, and is an incredible bargain if it comes with samsung memory. Most of the cards with samsung ram will overclock to pro speeds with no problem.

I just picked up the ATI 9800NP from Best Buy over the weekend.

It was a great upgrade from my Ti4400. I can max all the detail levels and play BF1942 in 1024*768 full detail w/o a single hiccup.

Some people have reported being able to flash the 9800 np to the 9800 Pro BIOS. I haven't done it myself.
