9700 needs power cable?

I just got a used 9700. My question is if this cards needs a power cable to operate? When I put it in my computer and booted up, I got a warning saying "You have not connected the power cable to your 9700".

So either the seller forgot to ship the power cable or something else is wrong. Any ideas?

that power cable would be the 4 pin connector located most likely on the top right side on the end of the card. your ps should have a molex to connect inot it. there was no cable the seller should've shipped

Hmmmm...what did you think the power supply molex socket on the card was for?

What is it about the warning that you don't understand?

I didn't see the socket.. my old card (8500LE) didn't have one. Damn! So now I need a damn power cable.

EDIT: Thanks for the quick responses guys.

My friend let me borrow 9700 for a day and it wasnt the large 4-pin (same as Hard Drive power connector). The one I used was the little connector from your Power supply (same one as for the Floppy Drive). Either is available on your PSU so you dont need to buy any new cables.

Good point. I just threw my entire computer out the window. I figure it will save me trouble in the future.

You only need to connect a spare "Floppy" type power cable. It is not some sort of "special" cable. Most PSU's have at least 2 of these, so you should have a spare one.

 for not getting all bent out of shape like most people do when someone pokes fun at them. The More You Know, right? 🙂

Haha thanks. Yeah anyways my PSU doesn't have two of the small 4-pin connectors, just one (which was connected to the floppy). So... now I have no floppy drive. Oh well!

Thanks guys.
