9700 AIW software questions

I have a 9700 AIW card, I connected my cable tv line to it and everything is working great. The picture comes in pretty good only certain channels have alittle fuzz. My questions are:

1. whats the best software to user for capturing tv shows/movies?
2. Is there a software available to setup a time to record a show?(I have the Gemstar software that came with but it doesnt work, I checked on ATI's site and their known issues dont seem to apply to me. It will work when you uninstall and then reinstall but it will only download listings once, as soon as you close out of it it wont open again)
3. Will a signal booster give me a noticeable difference?
4. I have a Asus P4S8X board and am using the built in audio, should I buy a better sound card?(Soundblaster Audigy series) Will it make a big difference?

Thanks all!!

1. I like MMC, its the only software that fully supports the card.
2. Works good on both my AIW rigs, did you update it with the update wizard?
3. Did with my card (2 thru 6 were terrible out of the box) Depends on the booster, the frequencies it boosts, and whether those frequencies need boosting to improve the signal...so maybe.
4. Is your ausio quality poor on the recordings?

It came with Gemstar Guide Plus, I updated it but the software wont work, everytime you try to initialize it it fails. ATI's website says its a known issue and has a fix, I looked for what they were suggesting and did not see what they wanted me to delete. I can reinstall it and it works fine untill I close it. Is there something diferent that was in the ATI bundle? I haven't played to much with anything yet besides the guide plus.

After you uninstall the gemstar epg, they ask you to delete the gemstar folder before reinstalling...is that what you're talking about?

I have followed their instructions from this page:

I cannot see the files they are talking about(ran a search), I have deleted the folder as well. still no change. When I reinstall and update hte channels it works, as soon as I close it and then try to reopen it flashes like its about to open then closes with a Windows default error sound.

I don't have those files either. Its not some weird permission issue?, you install/update as an administrator? I remember an issue awhile back about a capture issue where after a repair OS installation, or something similar, you would lose write permissions in the ATI directory which was storing a temp file resulting in a failed capture?

Weird! I saw a post when doing a search on this issue. Some guy said he had the same issue and that he re-ran the setup and did an repair install and that everything works great for him. I ran the setup again and installed again, it acted like a new install. It now works with out any problems, go figure? Thanks for all the help.
