Is it worth upgrading to a 1070 or 1080 from my 970? I do not overclock, but would overclocking get me a performance increase that would save me until next gen of cards come out?

You've been in these forums long enough to know where to find this info.

A 1070 should offer significant performance increase over your 970 if you're playing demanding games.

The 1070 and 1080 are enormous upgrades from the 970 at 1440p.

50-60%-But there is chance nv will refresh pascal cards pretty soon.We can expect they rename GTX1080 with faster ram to GTX1070 offering 30-35% performance boost over old GTX1070.

While a performance increase is an given the difference will not be this huge, that puts it above the current 1080 which if the card is named the 1070ti it is highly unlikely to be faster than the former. But ill wait and see because anything is possible.

Just like with kepler.GTX680 renamed to GTX770 with faster ram and core.GTX1080 will be same.It will be next GTX1170 or whatever(5-10%faster than current GTX1080).New GTX1180 will be on cutdown GP102 just like GTX780 was cutdown GK110.
1080TI will be FULL GP102 only released if AMD have something decent.
