What do you think about the 1997 Mitsubishi Monter Sport...with 31' BF Goodrich All-Terrains, 4x4, Sunroof, Black, Power Everything, V6, and 50,000 miles ?

In a word, yes. I'm not a big fan of the Montero's (sport or otherwise), plus I'm pretty certain they are one of the more unsafe SUVs out there (high center of gravity).

i like the older ones like that, but i don't care for the new monteros, especially since they were deemed unsatisfactory by consumer reports (?)

sounds like the one you have in mind would be nice though

So what about the Mechanical problems....I have always driven 'high center of gravity' vehicles (Isuzu Trooper, Nissan Pathfinder), so I dont mind that.

I'm just biased. Most places I've seen say the reliability is good on them. The engine is rahter anemic tho

Its weak. A 3L V6 just doesn't produce the power that a SUV of that size needs. My parents rented one(98 Montero Sport) a few back in '98 when they dragged me to a family thing and I can still remember my dad saying it was a gutless POS. I don't like SUVs in general, but I think there are better alternatives than a Montero.

Oh it will pull a small boat most definately! Its just going to strain when you try and tow it up inclines.

They're nice, don't get me wrong, but it is not my no. 1 choice for the application of towing stuff around. I'd rather have a Yukon or Silverado.
