I'm looking at building a new system and am trying to determine how much of a difference RAM timings will make. I'm only looking at something DDR2-800 or higher.
AT used Corsair XMS2 DDR2-800 @ 4-4-4-12, seems like a good recommendation. But, could I save a little money and get the CL5 version without sacrificing too much performance?
There's some OCZ Platinum @4-5-4-15. How much faster is the Corsair?
and what are peoples' thoughts on G.SKILL and Patriot?
The rest of the system will probably be:
965P chipset motherboard (waiting for an AT roundup to figure out which)
Pentium D 805 hopefully @4GHz (only a holdover until Conroe becomes widely available and decently priced)
Radeon X1800XT
Also, is there a better place on the forums to put memory questions? I didn't see one and thought motherboards would be closest.
