965P-DS3 w/ 4300 not booting, HELP!!!

Puting together this new system, and its been a while but I'm pretty sure I have everything connected correctly. The power supply starts, but the CPU fan wont spin right.. it spins for a sec, ten stops then again then stops... that was w/ everything connected.

I removed everything except Mobo and CPU.

Now when I turn it on it does the same thing but then shuts off by itself after like 5 seconds, then turns back on.. and does this in a loop.

Connected to the MOBO I have the following:

CPU Fan
ATX Connector
The little connector right next to the ATX connector
CPU 1 power connector
Power Switch

Any ideas?! Never had a DOA part before... hopefuly I'm not going to start now.

BTW, does it matter how you connect the power switch connector and stuff.. it seems to turn on either way... which one is ground again? . .+ or -?

BTW, I tried bypassingt the case's power switch and it mad eno difference.

I also didn't use any additional thermal paste on the CPU.. I'm just using the stock cooling that came with it.

BTW, If I put the memory in 2 stick of 1 GB each, It wont shut off by itself anymore, the PSU stays on, but the CPU fan never really gets going, it starts and stops starts and stops.. etc..etc....

Umm, this may sound like a dumb question, but do you have a video card plugged into it so you can see if the board is POSTing?

The CPU fan will do the on-off thing until the CPU heats up to a certain point. That's the default BIOS setting.

Yeah figured that one out about 5 min after I posted 🙂 Everything is working great. I feel retarded .. oh well, live and learn 🙂
