I ran 3dMark05. Is this what I should be getting for this setup?

AMD64 3400+ at 2.4ghz 1.0G PC3200 400mhz Mwave RAM
ASUS K8V-SE DLX
Radeon 9600XT-VIO 256MBDDR (Running at @526MHZ)
MAXTOR 160GB SATA
A-TOP Z-ALIEN ALUMINUM MID TOWER W/450W ATX POWER SUPPLY

3dMark05- 1154

If I'm doing something wrong please let me know.. I know it's not an expensive system but I am poor and want to make the most of it.

Lol you are poor and paid for that setup? if anything the reason your 3dmark is so low is your videocard. Holding back a very powerful system, but the card powers things pretty well anyways

Got everything listed for $926 about 4 months ago. Check out mwave.com. Gotta look around but some prices are awesome on stuff they are clearing out.

Should I go NVIDIA when I upgrade? Anyone got some good prices on those... I get a MAJOR discount cause I work at best buy but sometime it's cheaper online.

Your rig is pretty good except for the videocard.

If you are looking for more performance, a newer GPU will offer you the most noticeable gains.

alright thanks for the help. (editing my x-mas list) lol...

BTW never install SATA on my case, the cord doesn't fit inside the case when you try and close it, it pushes on the cord like it's gonna snap the sata plug on the HDD since the HDD is sideways and the cords are sticking out. SO BUNK!
